May 2026 Update: Urgent Need for Housing
The "Victory Trap" of Asylum Status:
In Greece, when someone's asylum case is successful, they immediately stop receiving support from the Greek government and are removed from their housing in the refugee camp. Meanwhile, their permanent ID and documentation, which would allow them to seek housing through government support, will take months to be approved. This "victory cliff" leaves many people, including families with small children, with nowhere to sleep but the street.
Bridging the Gap: LWB Family Sponsorship
Over recent months, we have seen a huge influx of families stuck in the "victory trap," in need of urgent support. So we are seeking sponsors who are able to support specific families for a set period of time.

Sponsor a Small Family
Your donation of $525 will house a small family for one month. This is the rent and utilities for a studio apartment, to house a family of up to 3 people.

Sponsor a Large Family
Your donation of $875 will house a large family for one month. This is the rent and utilities for a two bedroom apartment, to house a family of 4-6 people.
Short term hotel stays are crucial to keep people from sleeping on the street while we seek longer term accomodations for them

For $40, you can give one night of emergency housing to an individual or couple .

For $60, you can give one night of emergency housing to a family.

Due to the sensitive nature of these asylum cases, we are not posting names or photos of these families publicly.
